Qualcomm has just announced a successor to the Snapdragon 820, a chipset that was used in most powerful smartphones this year and we could say that the chip dominates the smartphone market, alongside Samsung's Exynos 8890 that are exclusive to Samsung devices.
The new Snapdragon 821 features the same architecture as its predecessor, but its CPU is clocked higher. The chipset has model number MXM8996 Pro and has its cores clocked at 2.4 GHz, compared to 2.2 GHz on Snapdragon 820. The company didn't announce GPU clocks, but it is believed that the Adreno 530 is clocked higher. The overall performance bump is about 10%.
First devices powered by the Snapdragon 821 are expected in the second half of 2016.
