The Nokia brand is reportedly going to appear on two Android phones later this year. HMD Global, which has owned the Nokia brand since its sale by Microsoft in May 2016, is working on two handsets that feature a metal design and the "famous Nokia feel." This information comes from sources speaking to NokiaPowerUser.
Both devices are said to include Android N, a fingerprint scanner, and a high-end camera. The smaller unit comes in at 5.2 inches and the larger handset is 5.5 inches. While not confirmed, it's believed both will use QHD 2,560x1,440 displays.
Depending on internal tests, HMD Global will release the Android-running Nokia devices in late 2016 or early 2017.
HMD Global is run by a former Nokia executive, Nokia has one spot on HMD's board, and Nokia has some control over product quality. So, the actual Nokia remains closely tied to its Nokia phone brand. |
