TSMC is already the exclusive manufacturer of Apple's A10 chipset that will power Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 lineup. According to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News, TSMC has already secured exclusive orders for the A11 chipset that will power iPhone 8.
Apple's next-generation A11 chip is expected to be built on a 10nm FinFET process. The production could begin as soon as the second quarter of next year. TSMC is also rumoured to bring 5nm process by 2020, while the 10nm process will become profitable by the end of next year. |
