Microsoft is slowly reconstructing its mobile business and after it has sold its feature phone business to Foxconn along with some mobile assets in Vietnam, the company has now revealed in the SEC filing that it plans to lay off 2,850 employees by the July next year.
The same document has also revealed that it sold 13.8 million Lumias in total from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. In the last quarter, from April to June of 2016 (Microsoft's fiscal Q4), the company sold only 1.2 million Lumia phones. For comparison, sales from the other three quarters were 5.8 million in Q1, 4.5 million in Q2, and 2.3 million in Q3. |
