During the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event in New York, Samsung has unveiled the long rumoured Galaxy Note 7. The company has finally revealed what to expect from the flagship phablet that is expected to go on sale later this month, on August 19 in the United States.

If you have been reading rumours about the Galaxy Note 7, then you won't hear anything new. The Galaxy Note 7 packs a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED curved edge display with always-on feature, a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor depending on the market, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of UFS 2.0 expandable storage, a 12 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front, a 3,500 mAh battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Basically nothing new and what most flagship smartphones are offering. What is different from other phones is the addition of iris scanner and stylus support. The new S Pen has much finer point and fine pressure sensitivity as it recognizes 4,096 different pressure levels. It is water resistant and actually works under water. Along with already available features from the old S Pen, Samsung has added three new features, including a magnifying loupe, quick text translation tool, and a new tool that makes it easy to create GIFs from any video that's currently playing.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 comes in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx, and pre-orders open tomorrow, on August 3. The phone is priced at $849.99 off-contract, and there are various plans from all major carriers in the US.
