Google's mobile operating system is the main choice when it comes to mid-range and high-end smartphones, but like every other software it is prone to security vulnerabilities. While most of the issues are not big problems, the latest vulnerability is pretty serious.
A new set of security vulnerabilities affect over 900 million Android smartphones and allows attackers to take control of device. Only devices that use Qualcomm chipsets are affected, which isn't the best news since Qualcomm pretty much owns the smartphone market. Fix for the issue is reportedly already in the works and should be included in September's monthly security update. Since the security updates are rolling out only for newer handsets, most of the affected devices will never be patched. |
