Samsung Electronics has launched its new flagship model, the Galaxy Note 7, in the Taiwan market, and sources at the local retail channels expect the Korea-based vendor to ship over a total of 500,000 units in the local market.

Local consumers pre-ordered the limited 20,000 units of the Galaxy Note 7 in 24 hours beginning at 3pm of August 5, said Samsung Taiwan.

The Galaxy Note 7, which features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED curved display, iris-recognition and water- and dust-proof functions, will be available from August 19 at NT$26,900 (US$854.3) unlocked.

To-date, Samsung has shipped 2.3 million Galaxy Note family products in Taiwan. The vendor expects total sales volume of the Galaxy Note 7 to be 20% higher than that recorded by its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5, Taiwan Samsung estimated.
