Compal Electronics' July consolidated revenues dropped 18.5% on month and 5.3% on year to reach only NT$56.94 billion (US$1.84 billion), while consolidated revenues for January-July went down 11.1% on year to reach NT$406.5 billion.

Compal shipped 2.4 million notebooks in July and 18 million units in the first seven months of 2016.

Compal expects its August and September revenues to both grow on month and will see sequential growth in the fourth quarter.

Compal expects notebook shipments to grow over 10% sequentially in the third quarter. The company is currently seeing stable orders from US-based clients, but China-based clients' orders offer better growth. The company is currently having weak visibility for the fourth quarter.

As for non-notebook product lines, Compal shipped 190,000 LCD TVs in July, up from 160,000 units in June.
