Allwinner has announced three new chipsets that can be used in a range of applications, such as TV boxes or IoT devices. Two new chipsets feature a quad-core processor with ARM Mali 400 graphics, while the third has an octa-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 graphics.

The first chip is Allwinner R16 and is aimed at low-cost solution for IoT applications, with support for Android or Linux-based software. The R40 chip with a quad-core processor is a successor to the A20 dual-core processor. Not only it is more powerful, but it runs more efficiently thanks to 40nm manufacturing process, instead of a 55nm. Last, but not least is the octa-core Allwinner R58 that is aimed at 2-in-1 laptop/tablet hybrids.

Earlier this month, the fabless application processor company has joined Microsoft Azure Certified for Internet of Things (IoT), ensuring customers get IoT solutions up and running quickly with hardware and software that has been pre-tested and verified to work with Microsoft Azure IoT services.
