Xiaomi Technology saw its smartphone shipments decline 38.4% on year to 10.5 million units in the China market in the second quarter of 2016 during which other major local rivals were enjoying significant shipment growths, according to the latest data released by IDC.

During the second quarter of 2016, Xiaomi also saw its share in China's smartphone market decline to 9.5% from 16.1% of a year earlier and its ranking retreated to the fourth place from the number one spot a year ago.

Meanwhile, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo became the top smartphone vendors in China in the second quarter with a combined share of 47% compared to 43% a year ago, IDC said.

Huawei saw its smartphone shipments increase 15.2% on year to 19.1 million units in the second quarter, the largest vendor with a 17.2% share.

Oppo saw its shipments soar 124.1% to 18 million units for a 16.2% share, while Vivo enjoyed a 74.7% shipment growth to 14.7 million units for a 13.2% share.

Apple, the largest international brand vendor, suffered a 31.7% setback in shipments to 8.6 million units in the second quarter and saw its market share decline to 7.8% from 11.9% of a year earlier, IDC noted.
