If new reports are to be believed, Google has discontinued its Nexus program and the new upcoming smartphones will have new branding. Not only the new smartphones that are built by HTC will have different branding, but they are also expected to be more expensive.
The 5-inch Sailfish is expected to cost $449 with Snapdragon 820, 13 MP + 8 MP cameras and 32 GB of storage, while the 5.5-inch Marlin will cost $599 with the same chipset, camera and storage. For comparison, the Nexus 5X was priced at $379, and the 6P was $499.
As for the branding, the details are coming from "several people familiar with Google's plans." These new reports are in line with recent rumours that Google may retire the Nexus name from the phones and replace it with a "G" logo. |
