After almost two years, Apple has announced a successor to its first smartwatch at a special event in California today. The new Apple Watch Series 2 is finally official and has the same design as its predecessor, but there are some new improvements.

The original Apple Watch was splash-proof, while the new Watch Series 2 is water resistant for 50 meters. To waterproof it, Apple redesigned the speaker, which now has a mechanism that pushes out water, packs has new seals and adhesives.
Apple has also included a new Apple S2 chip that has a dual-core processor for 50% better performance and a new GPU with twice the graphics performance. The display of new smartwatch is 2x brighter, at 1000 nits, which makes the big difference when you're outside. There is also a built-in GPS that learns about your habits over time and adjust.
What we don't know is the battery size. Since it has almost the same design as the original Watch, the battery size is probably the same, which is rather disappointing.
The Watch 2 comes with all the features that were announced with watchOS 3, including the Instant launch, Messages, Breath app, SOS and a lot of new fitness tracking features. The biggest surprise is the Pokemon Go app, which is coming to the Apple Watch by the end of the year.
Apple Watch Series 2 comes in aluminum, stainless steel, and ceramic, and will go on sale in late October priced at $369.
