Samsung has very good chipsets, but they are still slightly behind Qualcomm's solutions. The next-gen Exynos chipsets are rumoured to employ Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA), which will let the CPU and GPU sit on the same bus and share memory and tasks.
The first model will still pack Mali GPU, but reportedly Samsung is in talks with AMD and NVIDIA to license their GPU technologies. The third option is to develop its own GPU, but in either case, the company plans to ditch Qualcomm for good.
The Exynos chipsets with HSA support are rumoured to arrive next year and Samsung will finally add CDMA support. |
