Ahead of the press conference that is scheduled for September 27, where we should see the announcement of the new Xiaomi Mi 5s, the company has decided to lower the price of the current flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5, to clear the stock before the arrival of its successor.

The price reduction seems to affect only the purple and gold standard edition variants. Other variants still have the same initial price. The Snapdragon 820-powered Xiaomi Mi 5 is now priced at 1,599 Yuan ($240) in China, which is down from the initial price of 1799 Yuan ($270).
