Apple and Google are dominating the mobile market, but Samsung is slowly catching up with its Tizen platform. The platform still doesn't pose any threat to the Android or iOS, but if Samsung continues with big improvements, it is only a matter of day before becoming competitive.
On the other hand, the smartwatch market doesn't rely much on the operating system and Samsung wants to take that into its advantage. Not only Samsung has great smartwatches, but it is now trying to sell its Tizen platform to other companies.
The first company that is now rumoured to release Tizen-based smartwatch could be Huawei. The biggest reason to switch from Google to Samsung is apparently because "Google's Android as the US firm had not been very collaborative." Google doesn't want to provide full cooperation to Huawei, while Samsung offers exactly that. Still, there is no official confirmation about this so take it with a grain of salt. |
