HTC has reported that its revenues for September grew 41.8% on month and 31.3% on year to a 15-month high of NT$9.33 billion (US$297.12 million).
Shipments of the HTC Desire 10 series products, Google Pixel smartphones and the HTC Vive VR devices contributed to increased revenues for September, according to industry sources.
Revenues for the third quarter of 2016 totaled NT$22.2 billion, increasing 18% on quarter and 4% on year. For the first three quarters of 2016, revenues amounted to 55.9 billion, declining 40% from a year earlier.
Given that sales of Google's previous smartphone models have been flat, it remains to be seen whether shipments of Pixel smartphones will boost HTC's revenues substantially in the fourth quarter of 2016, commented the sources.
HTC's smartphone shipments are expected to reach 6.5-7 million units in the second half of the year, with Pixel shipments accounting for 40-50% of the total shipments, according to Digitimes Research. HTC shipped 5.8-6.1 million smartphones in the first half.
The company' stock price rose NT$2.70 to close at NT$89.10 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) during the October 6 session. |
