DRAM maker Nanya Technology has reported revenues of NT$42.46 billion (US$1.33 billion) for 2009, representing a 17% growth from NT$36.31 billion in 2008. However, Inotera Memories generated a 3.8% revenue slide in 2009, down for the second consecutive year.
Nanya generated sales of NT$4.96 billion in December 2009, down 18% on month. The company said its technology conversion caused shipments to drop and resulted in the revenue decrease. On an annual basis, Nanya's December revenues jumped 246.89% from levels a year ago, showing the DRAM industry has emerged from the downturn.
Nanya's statistics show it managed to end a run of on-year revenue drops in 2009. The company suffered revenue declines in 2008 and 2007.
Inotera Memories, Nanya's venture with Micron Technology, saw December revenues increase 8% sequentially and 137% on year to NT$4.67 billion. Revenues for 2009 reached NT$36.1 billion, down slightly from the previous year's NT$37.54 billion.
Market research firm iSuppli said in its October 2009 report that global DRAM market revenues have been declining on an annual basis since 2007, and are still set to decrease by 12.9% in 2009.
Nanya is scheduled to hold its fourth-quarter investors conference on January 20, 2010.
