Microsoft thought that the purchase of Nokia would be good for the company, and they have risked a lot on Windows Phone, which eventually proved like a big miss. The company plans to exit the market by the end of 2016, and the new/old company will fill the gap.

Nokia has already confirmed it plans to return to the market, but instead of operating like a standard handset manufacturer, the Finnish company gave the commercial rights to build Nokia phones to HMD Global.

The CEO of mobile device commodities of Microsoft Asia, James Rutherfoord has confirmed that HMD Global plans to launch two new phones by the end of 2016 and at least two smartphones in the Q2 2017. We now know that Nokia branded phones are coming, the only question is what to expect from them.
