Xiaomi's performance in India continues to improve, which is important given the country is its most important market outside of China. During an 18-day period, Xiaomi says it sold over a million smartphones in India. Of those, around half were sold in just 3 days.

The company's sales performance is far superior to what it recorded during the same period last year, when it took a month to sell just 500,000 units.

Diwali, an Indian holiday that contributes to a lot of commercial activity, helped Xiaomi reach its high sales figure.

Its growth in India comes alongside a decline in smartphone sales in China.
