In part because of the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S8 may be its only premium smartphone next year. There would be two flagships, a Note and an S, if 2017 were a normal year. Coming out of the Note 7's recall and the effect it has had on the Samsung brand, we may not see a new Note, reports the Korea Herald.

Samsung is internally considering a complete removal of the Note line. It still hasn't decided if it'll head down that path, but a release of a new Note in 2017 isn't particularly likely.

The company is currently focused on ensuring product quality and it'll be easier to make sure everything is fine if it doesn't immediately return to making a new version of the Note.
