Shipments of smartphones totaled 35 million units in India in the third quarter of 2016, increasing 21% on quarter and 25% on year, according to data released by Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
Samsung Electronics, Micromax and Lenovo were the top-three vendors in the India smartphone market, accounting for a market share of 21.6%, 9.8% and 8.9%, respectively, in the third quarter, said the Hong Kong-based market research firm.
Other China-based vendors including Xiaomi Technology, Oppo, and Vivo were also among the top-10 vendors list in the third quarter, and Cnina-based vendors as a whole accounted for a 32% share in the third quarter compared to 27% a quarter earlier.
India-based IT product retailer Reliance Digital took the fourth position with a 6.7% share, followed by Intex at 6.4% and Xiaomi at 6.2%.
Apple currently has a 1.3% share in the India market, but is expected to ship over one million iPhone devices, including iPhone 7 models, in the fourth quarter in the market, Counterpoint estimated. |
