Apple received record-breaking profits from its iPhone sales last quarter even though those sales were lower than in prior years. Strategy Analytics reports Apple had 91% of profits in the global smartphone market during the third quarter. That comes out to around $8.5 billion.

No other smartphone maker came anywhere close to Apple. The other top companies, Huawei, Vivo, and Oppo all generated less than $200 million.

The high profit during the quarter came despite a continued year-over-year decline in iPhone sales, which were down in the second, third, and fourth fiscal quarters.
