Huawei Technologies will launch MateBook, a 2-in-1 notebook/tablet hybrid model, in the Taiwan market in 2017, according to the company's Taiwan sales agent XunWei Tech.
MateBook will not have much impact on the Taiwan notebook market, for Asustek Computer and Acer together have occupied nearly 80% of the market and 2-in-1 models are not mainstream there, market analysts said. In the Taiwan notebook market, slim and gaming models will become mainstream in 2017.
There are about one million notebooks sold in the Taiwan market a year and the demand is on the decline, the analysts noted. Lenovo has a market share of less than 10% and is likely to become Huawei's major competitor in the Taiwan market because both are based in China, the analysts indicated. |
