IC distributor Zenitron is positive about the business outlook for the entire year of 2011 and expects strong demand for NAND flash and touch controller ICs from the tablet PC and smartphone sectors to help drive revenue growth for the year.
Sales of NAND flash products are expected to top NT$15 billion (US$518.33 million) in 2011, with eMMC NAND chips accounting for NT$6-7 billion, compared to NT$3 billion recorded in 2010, according to company CEO Jason Chen.
Revenues derived from sales of touch panels, mainly medium- and large-size models, will increase 3- to 4-fold to reach NT$1-1.2 billion, Chen added.
Zenitron has also set up a new business unit to tap new market segments, including green energy, microcontroller units (MCUs) and industrial power supplies, said Chen, expecting sales of the three new product lines to account for 10% of total revenues in 2013.
