ZTE has introduced the world's first crowdsourced smartphone and it looks like pretty much any other handset. Known as the Hawkeye, the device comes from ZTE's Project CSX, which took suggestions from consumers. The company received 400 submissions from 176 countries.
After looking through those submissions, ZTE decided to take the Hawkeye to market.
It comes with eye-tracking capabilities and it can adhere to tables, walls, chairs, and other surfaces. Your eye movements can be translated to software actions.
The phone also has a dual direction viewing screen that lets two pieces of content appear concurrently. You'll see something different depending on if you're on the right or left of the phone.
We believe that the Hawkeye name reflects the spirit and vision of ZTE as we continue to put the consumer throughout this entire process and will continue to do so in every phone we deliver. - Jeff Yee, ZTE
For core specs, the Hawkeye has a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 LCD display, 4/6 GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 823 or newer, 64 or 128 GB of storage, and a battery between 3500 and 4000 mAh.
It has launched on Kickstarter at a discounted price of $200. Shipments are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2017. |
