Sony Mobile Communications saw its share in the over NT$15,000 (US$475) segment of the Android smartphone market in Taiwan increase to 35% in 2016 from 24% of a year earlier, according to a Chinese-language media report, citing Jonathan Lin, general manager of Sony Mobile Taiwan.
Sony Mobile aims to further ramp up its share in the high-end Android smartphone segment to 40% in 2017, while also continuing to serve as the number one vendor in the segment, Lin was cited by udn.com as saying.
However, the report indicated Sony Mobile plans to introduce two new models in the forthcoming MWC 2017 targeting the mid-range market. Both models are to be powered by MediaTek's Helio P20 CPUs, instead of using Qualcomm's chipsets as previously. |
