Samsung Display has signed a deal with Apple to supply the Cupertino-based company with 60 million OLED panels for the next-generation iPhone, in addition to the 100 million units reportedly ordered by Apple last April. The deal is reportedly worth 5 trillion won, or about $4.3 billion.
This also means that Apple will make switch to OLED panels with iPhone 8 and due to the amount of ordered OLED panels, it is possible that all three iPhones will use the new panels. Previous rumours hinted about an OLED display only in the premium Apple model, but these deals suggest otherwise. |
