Unlike LG and Huawei, who announced flagship smartphones, Motorola went into different direction and unveiled two new budget smartphones, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. The extremely popular G series offer a good balance between performance and price.

The new Moto G series got a much-needed design refresh, which is now in line with the design of Moto Z and Z Play. The Moto G5 has a smaller, 5-inch 1080p display, compared to a 5.2-inch 1080p Moto G5 Plus. The Plus variant also has better specs, with Snapdragon 625, 2 or 4 GB of RAM, 32 or 64 GB of expandable storage and a 3,000 mAh battery, while the standard model features a Snapdragon 430, 2 or 4 GB of RAM (depending on the market), 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage, and a 2,800 mAh battery.

Another difference between the phones is the rear camera. The G5 packs a 13-megapixel f/2.0 system with phase detect autofocus, while the G5 Plus ups that with a 12-megapixel f/1.7 camera with dual-focus pixels, with 4K recording support. The front camera no both models is a 5-megapixel unit.

Both phones are expected to launch next month, priced at €199 and €229, respectively.
