Qualcomm has been ordered to return $815 million to BlackBerry by a binding arbitration agreement. The refund covers overpaid royalties on BlackBerry's end that were made between 2010 and 2015.

Although Qualcomm doesn't feel the decision is accurate, it's forced to comply with it. It'll also pay interest and attorney fees.

BlackBerry paid royalty payments in advance and argued it should receive some of them back. Qualcomm made the argument that all of the payments made by BlackBerry were actually nonrefundable.

Qualcomm is heavily reliant on licensing deals like those with BlackBerry.
