Apple's quarterly earnings report for Q2 reveals the company had fewer iPhone sales, but it earned a little more from its smartphone division. Sales dropped 1% year-over-year, bringing them to 50.8 million units, below the analyst anticipated 51.4 million.

Part of the decline in sales is being associated with all of the reporting about the iPhone 8. A lot of consumers may be holding out for either the iPhone 8 or at least the iPhone 7s series.

Mac sales were up 4% during the quarter, reaching 4.2 million. Revenue in that division grew 14%.

iPad sales were down 13% and revenue fell 12%.

Revenue overall was $52.9 billion.
