Just days after Huawei has been accused of using different RAM and storage chips in its flagship P10 and P10 Plus smartphone, which greatly affect the performance, it appears that another top-tier company has been doing the same thing with its flagship lineup.

XDA Developers forum has discovered that some Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ models have different storage chips. Some models are using UFS 2.0, while others UFS 2.1. Although the latter was touted as a feature, Samsung has quietly removed specific mention of UFS 2.1 from the Galaxy S8 product spec.

The good thing is that there are no reports of eMMC 5.1 chips, which would have a more noticeable impact on performance.

According to XDA Developers, only some Snapdragon 835-powered Galaxy S8 units use UFS 2.0, while all other models are using UFS 2.1.
