Qualcomm might be having some small production issues with Snapdragon 835, which is more because of Samsung's and TSMC's 10nm production node immaturity, but other than that it pretty much dominates the high-end market. That doesn't mean the company can relax now.
The company has already started working on its next-generation flagship chipset that will be called Snapdragon 845 according to a listing on Qualcomm's website. Except for the name confirmation, no other details were revealed, but the chipset should arrive in 2018, probably with the introduction of Galaxy S9 lineup.
What we have also learned is that the Snapdragon 845 will be manufactured using the 7nm process and TSMC has started a trial production. Aside from performance bump, the 7nm process will also bring much lower power consumption. |
