Lite-On IT, a Taiwan-based optical disc drive (ODD) maker who has stepped into the SSD segment, will begin OEM shipments of 32-64GB SSDs based on Marvell-developed HyperDuo technology to notebook PC vendors in the third quarter, according to the company.
Shipments of built-in SSDs for use in notebook PCs will account for 70-80% of total SSD revenues in 2011, with the remaining 20-30% from retail markets and OEM shipments to vendors of servers and industrial PCs, Lite-On IT indicated.
