A-Data Technology, Transcend Information and Power Quotient International (PQI) all saw 2009 revenues return to a growth track following 2008, when they experienced on-year drops.
A-Data has reported accumulated revenues of NT$13.14 billion (US$414 million) for the fourth quarter of 2009, up 33.4% on quarter. Revenues for all of the year increased 20.1% to NT$34.84 billion.
A-Data said revenues from NAND flash products grew 43% sequentially to NT$2.26 billion in December, whereas those from DRAM modules slid 30% to NT$2.04 billion. The sales ratio between DRAM modules and NAND flash devices was around 44:56 for the month.
Transcend generated revenues of NT$33.4 billion in 2009, representing a 0.3% rise from NT$33.32 billion in 2008. Revenues for the fourth quarter slid 2.5% sequentially to NT$8.99 billion, mainly due to seasonal demand drops in the company's NAND flash and strategic product segments.
Transcend is continuing its efforts in product mix improvement. The company saw sales ratio between DRAM modules, NAND flash devices and strategic products reach 37:41:22 in December, compared to 21:64:15 six months ago and 38:56:06 in December 2008.
Transcend manufactures and sells non-memory products such as digital music players and digital photo frames, which the company places under its strategic product segment which contributes higher gross margins.
PQI has announced consolidated revenues for the fourth quarter of 2009 grew 33% sequentially to NT$7.415 billion. Revenues for all of 2009 totaled NT$19.46 billion, up 15% from NT$16.92 billion a year ago.
PQI said memory card shipments in December surpassed those in November, buoyed by demand from the China market. PQI's consolidated revenues grew 18% sequentially to NT$2.455 billion in December, whereas rivals A-Data and Transcend saw December revenue drop slightly on month.
Market watchers believe both A-Data and PQI saw a return to profitability in 2009, while Transcend managed profit growth on year.
