Walton Advanced Engineering, which mainly provides backend services for DRAM companies, has forecast revenues for the third quarter of 2011 will stay flat or grow slightly by up to 5% on quarter.
Demand for mobile DRAM used in smartphones and tablets has not grown as strongly as previously thought, Walton president Yu Hong-chi commented. As for standard DRAM, demand is being affected by stagnant PC sales, Yu pointed out.
In addition, uncertainties in the global economy are weighing on end market demand, said Yu, adding that Walton is now cautious about its sales outlook for the third quarter.
Walton in January remarked that the company would post sequential revenue growth through the last quarter of 2011. Revenues for the entire year are expected to enjoy double-digit growth, the company said previously.
Fellow packaging and testing firm Powertech Technology (PTI) expects to report flat to low-single digit growth sequentially in revenues for the third quarter, company chairman DK Tsai said recently. Tsai expressed concerns about over-booked semiconductors.
