Demand for DDR3 improved slightly this week in the spot market (Aug8-12) but this did not help overall pricing, while NAND flash reported strong demand from China.
Some local traders suggested that overall pricing of 2Gb DDR3 chips at the spot market were lower than their expectations since not as many as chips were available on the market. Therefore, a mild rebound in pricing is predicted in the near future, said the research firm citing local traders.
As of the noon session of August 12, spot price of branded 2Gb DDR3 and a white-branded 2Gb DDR3 both dropped 5% to US$1.04 and US$0.80, respectively.
Following stabilization in the previous week, spot pricing for NAND flash MLC 32Gb rebounded amid inventory buildup by some China-based players in anticipation of a price reversal.
Some local traders expect the pricing to rebound soon amid the launch of Apple's new iPhone 5 in September, noted the research firm.
As of August 12, the spot price for 32Gb MLC dipped 2% to US$3.49.
