The overall price trend for NAND flash in the spot market remained stable this week (Aug 29-Sep 2) with still some traders looking for Hynix 32Gb MLC products in particular.
As of September 2, the spot price for 32Gb MLC increased 2% to US$3.58 while 64Gb MLC held at US$6.40, said the research firm.
Some local traders believe demand for NAND flash might pick up in the middle of September buoyed by preparation for the week-long holiday in the beginning of October in Greater China. Therefore, they are holding most of their shipments for a better price later in the month.
Affected by the downhill results of the DRAM contract price in the second half of August, overall DRAM price performance in the spot market this week was not as strong as last week, the research firm added.
Traders are becoming cautious toward the spot market and are still holding a wait-and-see attitude since it is only the beginning of the month. Though some demand did surface, some traders were not willing to sell their products with lower price tags.
As of the noon session of September 2, spot pricing of white-branded 2Gb DDR3 jumped 6% to US$0.83 and branded 2Gb DDR3 dropped 2% to US$0.98, said the research firm.
