Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has approved plans by Elpida Memory to establish an R&D center for sub-40nm DRAM production and next-generation memory technologies in Taiwan, allowing the Japan-based vendor to enhance its ties with local DRAM companies, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
Elpida would invest a total of US$100 million in its Taiwan R&D center, the report indicated, without citing its source.
