Taiwan-based memory module maker Transcend Information is exhibiting its products used in industrial control, including SSDs, memory modules and ruggedized memory cards, at the 2011 Global Gaming Expo (G2E) taking place during October 4-6.
This is the first time Transcend made its appearance at the international gaming trade show, an annual event held in Las Vegas.
Transcend has gradually reduced its dependence on standard DRAM modules while growing sales of its high-margin industrial memory products used in industrial PC, ATMs (automatic teller machines), POS (point-of-sale) and car-use computing, the company said previously.
Transcend's industrial memory portfolio has put more emphasis on NAND flash-based devices and SSDs, company chairman Peter Shu was quoted as saying in previous reports. Sales of the industrial product line are expected to account for 30% of Transcend's total revenues in 2011, up from about 20% in 2010, Shu noted.
In other news, Transcend's September revenues are expected to grow about 10% sequentially, according to market watchers. The rise can be attributed to a pick-up in demand for its NAND products as well as stabilizing chip prices.
