Overall pricing dropped further this week at the mainstream DRAM spot market (Oct 17-21) on weak demand.
Normally brokers start to secure inventory after the week-long holidays in the Greater China Region during the beginning of October, but demand did not pick up as expected this year, the research firm explained.
As of the noon session of October 21, spot pricing of a branded 2Gb chip fell 4% to US$0.98 and DDR3 white-branded 2Gb DDR3 decreased 5% to US$0.81, said inSpectrum.
The spot market for NAND flash also remained quiet this week with the overall price for mainstream products down slightly. As of October 21, the spot price for a 32Gb MLC dipped 1% to US$3.49 while 64Gb MLC was at US$5.86.
