Samsung will soon exit the multi level cell (MLC) NAND business, TheElec has learned.
The South Korean tech giant plans to receive orders for the chips only up to next month, sources said.
It has also told a customer that is was increasing its MLC NAND prices so the customer is looking for another supply line, they said.
With the ending of MLC NAND production, Samsung will likely focus its resources on triple level cell (TLC) and quad level cell (QLC) NANDs.
TLC is the mainstream in the global NAND market, According to Mordor Intelligence, TCL accounted for 62% of worldwide NAND sales.
