Under the dual drivers of AI-fueled sustained growth in demand for high-value DRAM (represented by HBM3E and high-capacity DDR5) and a rapid surge in prices and demand for traditional DDR4/LPDDR4X (stimulated by EOL notices from memory manufacturers in Q2), the global DRAM market size in the second quarter of 2025 increased by 20% quarter-on-quarter to $32.101 billion, marking a new historical quarterly high.

Meanwhile, SK Hynix continued to solidify its dominance in the DRAM market, securing the top spot for the second consecutive quarter in Q2 2025 with a 38.2% market share and widening its lead over Samsung.

The global DRAM market size in 2Q25 was $32.101 billion, 20% increase quarter-on-quarter and 37% increase year-on-year

A significant quarter-on-quarter surge in HBM sales and rising demand from data centers drove both volume and price increases for DRAM in the second quarter, leading to quarter-on-quarter sales growth for SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron in 2Q25. A rapid reduction in DDR4 production capacity by leading manufacturers, combined with slow application upgrades, created a supply-demand imbalance for traditional DRAM. This shifted a large volume of demand to Nanya and Winbond, resulting in a significant quarter-on-quarter increase in their DRAM sales. Domestic memory suppliers also benefited from the price hikes for traditional DRAM. Chinese memory suppliers also benefited from the price hikes for traditional DRAM, while also seeing rapid growth in production capacity and supply to meet the increasing demand in the domestic market. Their market share is expected to continue expanding throughout the year.

Specifically:

SK Hynix's DRAM sales revenue in the second quarter reached $12.271 billion, 25.1% increase quarter-on-quarter, with market share of 38.2%, ranking first in the DRAM market for the second consecutive quarter.

Samsung's DRAM sales revenue in the second quarter reached $10.758 billion, 13% increase quarter-on-quarter, with market share of 33.5%, ranking second.

Micron's DRAM sales revenue for the second quarter (March-May 2025) reached $7.071 billion, 15.5% increase quarter-on-quarter, with market share of 22%, ranking third.

Nanya's DRAM sales revenue in the second quarter was $343 million, 54.8% increase quarter-on-quarter, with market share of 1.1%.

Winbond's DRAM sales revenue in the second quarter was $183 million,  24.1% increase quarter-on-quarter, with market share of 0.6%.
