Rexchip Electronics, the Taiwan-based production subsidiary of Elpida Memory, swung to net losses in the third quarter from profits in the second quarter and a year earlier.
Rexchip reported net losses of NT$3.28 billion (US$110 million) for the third quarter of 2011, amid falling DRAM prices. Losses for the third quarter were larger then the overall profits generated in the first half of the year.
Rexchip posted net losses of NT$909 million for the first three quarters of 2011. EPS came to negative NT$0.31.
Parent company Elpida Memory also suffered losses in the July-September quarter. Net losses widened to JPY48.9 billion (NT$645 million) in the second quarter of the company's fiscal 2011 from losses of JPY7.9 billion in the prior quarter.
