Taiwan-based King Yuan Electronics Company (KYEC) recently landed testing orders for chips used in Sony's PS Vita handheld, with shipments kicking off in December, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report. The pull-in of orders would allow the backend service provider to report better-than-expected sales result for the last quarter of 2011, and buoy its sales performance in early 2012, the report said.
KYEC was quoted as saying in previous reports that the company might suffer revenue decreases sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2011 and first-quarter 2012, citing the impact of inventory correction in the supply chain and sluggish end-market demand as well as fewer working days in the first quarter.
KYEC also said previously that it expected more than 30% of company revenues to come from international IDM clients in 2011, up from 25% in 2010. KYEC's major clients are mainly fabless IC firms such as MediaTek.
KYEC shares rallied by the daily limit of 7% to close at NT$9.09 (US$0.30) on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on December 21. |
