Phison Electronics has announced it made solid earnings in 2011 thanks to its cost advantage over fellow flash memory controller firms. The company is migrating to 55nm processing with mass production scheduled for the second quarter of 2012.
Looking forward, Phison expects orders coming from the USB 3.0, eMMC and SSD fields to sustain its business growth in 2012.
Phison posted pre-tax profits of NT$884 million (US$29.8 million), or NT$4.90 per share, in the fourth quarter. Pre-tax profits for all of 2011 totaled NT$2.98 billion, or NT$16.69 a share.
Phison generated NT$8.78 billion in fourth-quarter revenues, representing a 5.7% sequential increase. Revenues amounted to NT$32.34 billion in 2011, up 1.7% on year.
Industry sources have speculated that new orders for flash memory cards from a system client were key to Phison's sales growth in the fourth quarter. |
