A week-long Lunar New Year holiday failed to stimulate the memory market in China. With the Europe and US markets quiet as well, demand has been weaker than expected, the firm noted.
As of noon of February 3, spot prices for white-brand 2Gb DDR3 were pegged at US$0.88, and those for branded 2Gb DDR3 were up by 1% to reach US$0.98.
Buyers are still holding a wait-and-see attitude, while sellers are reluctant to lower their prices.
As for NAND flash spot prices, 32Gb MLC chips were quoted at US$3.23 as of noon of February 3, down 1%, while 64Gb MLC parts stayed flat at US$5.72. Although some suppliers intended to offer lower prices to stimulate demand, buying sentiment remained slow.
