DRAM maker Nanya Technology has shifted business focus from standard DRAM to specialty DRAM consisting of consumer DRAM, server DRAM and mobile RAM and expects the proportion of its total revenues for these product lines to rise from 50% at the end of 2011 to over 60% at the end of 2012, spokesperson Pai Pei-lin said at the company's 2012 shareholders meeting on June 12.
Among the three specialty DRAM product lines, Nanya is globally competitive for consumer DRAM with a global market share of 16% next only to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, Pai indicated.
Nanya expects its operations in the second quarter to suffer a smaller net operating loss than in the preceding quarter, Pai noted. DRAM contract prices for June are expected to rise slightly on month, Pai indicated.
Nanya has begun 30nm volume production of DRAM chips mainly for used in ultrabooks. The company currently undertakes volume production of two mobile RAM products, low-power DDR for use in feature phones and 2-8Gb low power DDR2 for tablet PCs.
Nanya shareholders approved fund-raising plans to issue 3.8 billion new shares for private placement. |
