Macronix International and Winbond Electronics have both grabbed NOR flash memory orders for the next iPhone, which will be announced in mid-September, according to sources within the supply chain for the smartphone.
Macronix and Winbond have both responded by saying the companies do not comment on issues concerning individual customers.
The sources revealed that for the first batch of the upcoming iPhones, Macronix has secured 70% of the total NOR-chip orders for the upcoming iPhone while Winbond received the remainder.
Macronix is already among the NOR flash suppliers for Apple's MacBook Pro and MacBook Air notebook series, the sources said. For Winbond, breaking into the supply chain of Apple could mark a company milestone, the sources noted. |
