Global sales of the Nexus 7 are on the rise from 500,000-600,000 units a month initially to 800,000-900,000 units in November, and are expected to exceed one million units in December, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
Taiwan-based Quanta Computer undertakes ODM production of the Amazon Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 and is expected to ship 3-4 million Kindle Fires and 2-3 million Nexus' in the fourth quarter, the sources said. However, Quanta saw a larger decrease in notebook shipments than increase in tablet shipments in November and therefore had November consolidated revenues of NT$86.048 billion (US$2.95 billion) dropping 13.29% on month, the sources indicated.
7x-inch tablets, mainly the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire and iPad mini, are expected to see booming sales in the peak sales period before the year-end holidays, the sources said. Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron Technology together shipped 1.5 million iPad minis in November and will ship two million units in December, the sources indicated. |
