Customers hoping to see a Windows 8 tablet with the newest Intel technology under the Christmas tree might be better off expecting it as a Martin Luther King Jr. Day present.
According to tech industry pub Information Week, Dell and other vendors have pushed the launch of tablets with the new Intel chip called Clover Trail from mid-December to January.
The new tablets are Windows’ answer to the iPad and Android tablets, Information Week notes, with better battery life and performance.
But the big problem: PC makers aren’t able to make drivers stable enough for everything Microsoft’s Windows 8 is packing.
Dell won’t start shipping its tablet until Jan. 22. And Hewlett-Packard delayed its Envy x2 from November to early January (HP's website shows new orders will ship on Jan. 9).
Right now, if you want the new chip in time for the holidays, you’d have to pick up Acer’s W510 Clover Trail tablet. |
